John Egan - Teaching Mathematics in North Attleboro
John Egan of North Attleboro is a graduate of Merrimack College, where he studied mathematics. He has devoted much of his professional life to education, teaching mathematics and supporting students both inside and outside the classroom. Since 2010, he has served as a mathematics teacher at Bishop Stang High School in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. In this role, he has taught algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2, working with students at different stages of their educational journeys. John Egan’s responsibilities in North Attleboro have extended beyond classroom instruction. He has also served as a freshman class advisor, helping students adjust to the demands and opportunities of high school life.
Throughout his career in Massachusetts, Mr. Egan has taken an active role in creating programs and activities that contribute to the school community. He created and organized Bishop Stang High School's first Freshman Sophomore Dance in 2010, and oversaw its continued operation in subsequent years. His dedication to students earned him the Tireless Effort Award from the student council, which recognized his commitment to supporting the school and its students.
Mr. Egan has also participated in initiatives designed to promote student development and well-being. He has been invited to speak at Sophomore Wellness Day events, where he discussed the importance of social wellness among young adults. In addition, he has presented mini-lessons for parents during annual open house events, and contributed to Cardboard Tent City, a program that raises awareness about homelessness.
